  Very impressive airport. The check-in process is totally automated. Very few airports have such a system.

  Almost everything is wonderful with the exception of a couple things. The wifi is not very strong as I’ve often had to log in several times, and once I am logged on it’s very slow to check my email. A suggestion may be to have a similar set up like hotels or universities. These locations often have a free open wifi, but they also have a locked wifi in which only guests with a reservation can access a separate network; and, similarly students/administration/faculty on a campus can log in to a different network. The second item is international departures gate. The options for food are slim with picking between a restaurant or Tim Hortons (on the go). I think providing another two options for pax would be a great addition.

  Everyone including security are super friendly. Almost unheard of at most other airports I've experienced in recent years.

  I've traveled in a lot of countries and the Halifax Stanfield International Airport is one of the most efficient and has the best customer service by far. I easily gased up our rental (which was a free upgrade!) before dropping it off on site, picked up supper, and grabbed a shuttle to the Holiday Inn Express - all in 15 minutes time. Friendly staff were available and happy to help each step of the way. It wasn't busy or any long lines. The Alt is also an excellent hotel option right at the airport if you have an early morning flight. The one downside of the airport location is the distance to Halifax, but it's not too far compared to major cities. Best available option for those travelling away from the East Coast - get fresh Maritime lobster packed up in a cooler box for your flight!

  There are plenty of shops and places to eat both air side and outside security.

  Even though the airport seems to be new, internal processes there are horribly organized at least for international departures. I spent 90 minutes just to go through security (check my luggage and carry-on. One economy belt line for 2 international flights is a bad idea. Charging 60 CAD for a cab to the city is the way too expensive and there is no uber too.

  Everything seemed to go a lot faster than at other airports these days. From rental car return though check in (they've got true self service including self service back drop) and security.
